Dongtan Nature Reserve lies at the east end of Chongming Island.It's designated as Wetland of International Importance by Ramsar.Outside the dike it's the mudflat of the Nature Reserve,and inside it's reclamation area.Black-faced Spoonbill,Hooded Crane,Baikal Teal are often met.Reed Parrotbill rich.And sometimes Japanese Swamp Warbler,Oriental Stork,Spoonbill Sandpiper,Ochre-rumped Bunting,Nordmann's Greenshank,Relict Gull,Swinhoe's Crake...and even Chinese Crested Tern.In migration,many passerines gather along the dike.In summer,Whiskered Tern breeds in the ponds with Little Grebe,Moorhen and Oriental Reed Warbler. |
