Nanjing is 350km west of Shanghai,
one of the capitals in China's history.
It's at the west end of Ningzhen Hills.
Purple Mountain and Xuanwu Lake in the
city are home of many woodland birds
such as woodpeckers,laughingthrushes,
hawks,tits,magpies,doves,thrushes etc.
In summer,many cuckoos,drongoes,
orioles,shrikes breed.While birding in
Purple Mountain,you can also visit many
palaces and tombs of Ming Dynasty.In
winter,waterfowls come to Xuanwu Lake,
including real Mandarin Duck.Searching
the hills,rivers and lakes in the
suburb,Fairy Pitta,Reed Parrotbill,
Collared Crow,Tundra Swan,Oriental
Stork,Swan Goose may give you surprises.
Other common birds as Black Kite,
Black Baza,owls,Pheasant-tailed Jacana,
Crested Serpent Eagle,Forest Wagtail,
Swinhoe's Minivet,Black-winged
Cuckooshrike,Chinese Bamboo Partridge,
