Results from November,2010

Usually the northernmost wintering ground of Spoon-billed Sandpiper is known to be at Minjiang Estuary in Changle county,Fujian Province,China. No Spoon-billed Sandpiper has been recorded wintering in Rudong in 2008/2009 or 2009/2010.

On 4 November,a quick visit by Zhang Lin didn¡¯t reveal any Spoon-billed Sandpiper in Yangkou. But on 19 November,Zhang Lin did a full day survey in which at first at a high-tide roost in Zone A no Spoon-billed Sandpiper at all but then five were seen together when the tide started to go down and birds came back to feed.Meanwhile, there were still a few autumn migrants such as Lesser Sand Plover in this warmer autumn/early winter. So it¡¯s quite probable that these birds will go on southward.

None recorded in December,2010
